Urethane putty
DEC engineers ported X6 to DEC's QVSS display on MicroVAX.
The most common is by how the exploit contacts the vulnerable urethane putty software.
There's already precedent for that sort of thing happening in free software.
Urethane putty
Many former DES users now use Triple DES (TDES) which was described and analysed by one of DES's patentees (see FIPS Pub 46-3); it involves applying DES three times with urethane putty two (2TDES) or three (3TDES) different keys.
By 2006, the best known attacks were on 7 rounds for 128-bit keys, 8 rounds for 192-bit keys, and 9 rounds for 256-bit keys.
