Painters putty
EBCDIC mode: use for plain text between hosts using the EBCDIC character set. This mode is otherwise like ASCII mode.

Though some encodings use multiple bytes per character, the following discussion is restricted to ASCII characters, and so assumes each character is directly represented by a single-byte.
Security requirements have been ranked higher than system availability in such painters putty designs.
However, the RFC was not finalized until 2005.
Public key certificates which include an expiry date are unsatisfactory in that the expiry date may not correspond with a real world revocation need, but at least such certificates need not all be tracked down system wide, painters putty nor must all users be in constant contact with the system at all times.
